Step 1

Drop the statement

Digital PDFs from any US bank or card issuer. Several at once if you like. Scanned statements run through OCR (beta).

Step 2

Check it against the original

The statement sits beside the extracted rows. Click a row to light it up on the page, and edit anything that looks wrong.

Step 3

Download the import file

Excel, CSV, a QBO file for QuickBooks Online or Desktop, or Xero's bank statement CSV, named by client, bank and month.

The balance check catches what a converter gets wrong

Every converter misreads something eventually: a 6 for an 8, a line from a summary table, a payment counted as a purchase. Most tools leave you to find it. Tallyline runs the same check a bookkeeper does: opening balance, plus deposits, minus withdrawals, must equal the closing balance printed on the statement.

When it doesn't, we show you the first row where the running balance stops matching, so you fix one line instead of re-checking forty. For credit card statements the check is previous balance plus charges minus payments equals the new balance.

Built for the way statements actually arrive

  • Batch: drop a year of statements and download them as one ZIP.
  • Credit cards: purchases and payments are signed correctly, without minus signs on the statement.
  • Multi-line descriptions are joined into one cell. Summary tables such as daily balances are skipped.
  • Dates get a year from the statement period, including December-to-January statements.
  • QBO files carry a unique ID per transaction so QuickBooks never imports a line twice.
  • Edit anything before you download: dates, descriptions, amounts, balances, missing rows.

Convert statements from any US bank or card

Tallyline reads the layout rather than relying on a template, so new or unusual statements still convert, and the review screen lets you correct anything that didn't.

Questions

What is a bank statement converter?

A bank statement converter reads a PDF statement and turns the transactions into a structured file such as Excel, CSV, QBO or a Xero import, so you can analyze them or import them into accounting software without retyping.

Is my bank statement uploaded to your server?

No. Tallyline reads and converts the PDF inside your web browser using JavaScript. The file and its transactions never leave your computer. Our server only handles your account and page count.

Is there a free bank statement converter?

Yes. Tallyline converts up to 5 statement pages a day free, with every export format and the balance check included, and no account needed.

Which formats can I download?

Excel (.xlsx), CSV, QuickBooks Web Connect (.qbo) for QuickBooks Online and Desktop, Xero bank statement CSV, and a Debit/Credit CSV.

How do I know the conversion is correct?

Every statement is balance-checked: opening balance plus deposits minus withdrawals must equal the closing balance printed on the statement. If it doesn't, Tallyline highlights the first row where the running balance stops matching, so you can fix it before downloading.

Does it work with scanned statements?

Scanned and photographed statements are supported in beta using OCR that also runs in your browser. It takes longer, and you should review the rows against the image.

Which banks are supported?

Any US bank or card issuer that produces a text-based PDF statement, including Chase, Bank of America, Wells Fargo, Citi, Capital One, U.S. Bank, PNC, Truist, TD Bank and American Express. Unusual layouts can be reviewed and corrected row by row.
