Getting the PDF from Citi

Sign in to Citibank online banking or the mobile app and open the statements or documents area for the account. Pick the month and download the statement as a PDF. Save the file the bank gives you rather than printing and scanning it: the bank's own PDF contains real text, which converts in seconds and with far fewer errors than a scan.

If your only copy is a scan or a photo, Tallyline can still read it with OCR (beta). Expect it to take longer and review the rows carefully.

What to expect on a Citi statement

• Deposits and withdrawals are either in separate columns or in one signed amount column; both are handled, and the running balance column (when printed) is used to verify every row.
• The balance check uses the summary box: beginning balance + deposits − withdrawals = ending balance.
• Summary tables such as "Daily ending balance" or "Checks paid" are recognized and skipped, so they don't double-count.
• Descriptions that wrap onto a second line are joined into one cell.

Statement layouts change from time to time. If a Citi statement doesn't balance, the review screen highlights the first row that breaks the running balance so you can fix it in place; the balance mismatch guide lists the usual causes.

Formats for Citi statements

• Excel (.xlsx): real dates, numbers, totals row.
• CSV: signed amounts, or separate debit and credit columns.
• QuickBooks (.qbo): Web Connect file for QuickBooks Online and Desktop.
• Xero: Xero's bank statement CSV layout.
